Operation of a CHP Facility

Before legally commencing operation of a CHP Facility in Ireland, the following permissions and licenses are required:

*Conditional - Needed only if the total rated thermal input is of 50MW or more.

*Conditional - Needed only if the site has a combined total rated thermal input greater than 20 MW

Waste Licence

*Conditional - Needed when waste from the site is to be burned

Water Extraction Licence

*Conditional - Needed only if using a non-mains water source

 

If the CHP facility is to be gas fired and the generator wishes to ship gas itself, rather than purchasing gas from a licensed supplier at its plant gate, the following additional licenses and agreements are required:


Gas Shippers / Suppliers Licence

*Conditional - Needed only if operator shipping gas to plant

Standard Transportation Agreement and Entry Point Agreement

Bord Gais
